Obituary of Elmer "Roger" White

Please share a memory of Elmer to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
WHITE - Elmer "Roger", age 65, of Kennetcook, passed away at home on April 5, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer, with his family by his side. Born in Kennetcook on November 6, 1950, he was a son of Eva (Green) White and the late Elmer "Em" White. Roger was an accomplished steel tier, retiring from Rendan Fabricators, not because he wanted to, but due to his health. While most work to live, Roger lived to work. He had many interests over the years, and had a great passion for hunting, fishing, and car racing, being a true fan of Bobby White and the #81 car anywhere it was on the track. Roger was a huge fan of the Detroit Red Wings and was often known to his buddies as Fedorov. He made many friends everywhere he went and has made many long-lasting friendships over the years, drinking many Schooner beer with them. It was his fishing buddies that made a dream come true when they traveled to watch his beloved Detroit Red Wings at the Joe Louis Arena. Roger was a fighter to the very end of his battle, which is the way he lived every day, never giving up on anything he set his mind to. He was a loving husband, a proud father of his girls, and a true friend to many. Roger is survived by his wife, Trudy (Anthony); daughters, Penny (Ronnie) Wesley and Paula White; granddaughters Kaitlyn Wesley, Ally Church, and Natalie Peach, his special angel and the apple of his eye; great-granddaughter Ahlea; sister, Marsha (David Caddell); special niece, Kim McCulloch; and his extended family. Besides his father, Roger was predeceased by his brothers, John and Glenn; and sister Joanne. The family would like to thank the VON and Palliative Care team for the amazing care provided to Roger, and the many friends and family for all their love and support during his fight. "When life gets hard and times get tough, always remember - chin up." Cremation has taken place with no service by request. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 10 from 1-3pm at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, followed a private family committal service at St. James Presbyterian Cemetery, Noel Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sunshine Room at the Centennial Building, 1276 South Park St., Halifax, NS B3H 2Y9, or to St. James Presbyterian Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 354, Kennetcook, N.S. Ph 1-902-362-2440 or please visit our website at www.allenfh.ca to sign the guest book or send private condolences.
