WALKER - Ceretha May (Haley, Day), age 90, of Falmouth, NS, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, with her family at her side. Born in South Rawdon, NS on September 6, 1926, she was the eldest daughter of the late Arthur Leslie and Ida May (Sanford) Haley. Family was very important to Mom; in the early days of her first marriage, she and Dad took in Dad's youngest brother Neil and raised him. After Dad passed away in 1964, Mom raised five children on her own. She enjoyed being outside doing anything on the farms, and tending her plants and flowers. She also loved going out for a drive, no matter what kind of vehicle. Inside, Mom loved to knit, crochet, quilt, and make all kinds of crafts. We even taught her how to play cribbage and Auction 45s later in her life. After raising her children, Ceretha had the opportunity to travel the world with her second husband, Dean. Ceretha is survived by her daughter, Linda (Day) Harvey, Windsor; sons, Garnet Day (Kim Stevens), Center Rawdon, and Kevin Day (Tammy Wentzell), Falmouth; one brother, Leslie (Helen) Haley, Windsor; two sisters, Merle (John) Harvey, South Rawdon, and Gloria (David) Blanchard, Ellershouse; two sisters-in-law, Alice Haley, Huntsville, Ont. and Helen Publicover, Oakville, Ont.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides her parents, Ceretha was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Douglas Day; second husband, Dean Hanson Walker; a daughter, Dianne Faye Day; a son, Keith Charles Day; two brothers, Lyall Haley and Emmerson Haley; a sister-in-law, Lillian Haley; and a son-in-law, Daniel Grant Harvey. Cremation has taken place; visitation will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 6-8pm at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Summerville, with a private family burial at a later date. Flowers are welcome; donations in memory of Ceretha may be made to South Rawdon Baptist Church, 181 Lakewood Drive, Newport, NS, B0N 2A0. Thank you to the girls from We Care Home Health Services and the staff at Valley Regional Hospital for their care and kindness. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of J.
