Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
FAULKNER - Kathleen "Kay" May (Riley), age 85, of Burntcoat, formerly of Kentville, passed away on March 19, 2017 at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, with her family at her side. Born in Kentville on January 3, 1932, she was the beloved daughter of the late William and Jean Elizabeth (Pearl) Riley. Kathleen worked in the O.R. Department at the BFM Hospital in Kentville. She spent most of her life in the Annapolis Valley until meeting her husband, Charles Faulkner, in 1967, when she made her home in Burntcoat, N.S. There she became involved with the Noel United Church and Choir. Kathleen was very well-known for her beautiful crafts. A joyous time in her life was when she, her husband, and friends appeared on an episode of the well-known TV show "On the Road Again", hosted by Wayne Rostad; she displayed her own creation of hats made from plastic bags, and became known as "The Bag Lady". Kathleen loved to knit and crochet. Among all her creations, some of the most beautiful crochet items included The Last Supper and the 23rd Psalm, which were framed and displayed in her home. She also devoted a lot of time and love to making breast prosthetics for women suffering from breast cancer, and also made dolls for the deprived children in Africa. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Kathleen is survived by her husband, Charles; daughter, Dorothy MacKeen; two step-daughters, Teena (Dana) Miller and Krista Faulkner (Ken); brother, William "Bud" (Ann) Riley; granddaughter, Angela "Angie" MacKeen; grandchildren, Amy Miller, Nathan Miller, and Kaitlyn Doubleday; great-grandchildren, Michael, Paige, and Taylor Tracey; and great-great-grandson Hudson Hurlock-Tracey. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her aunts, Eva MacLean, Irene Russell, Muriel Brown, and Gladys (Pearl) Nibby; and uncles, Emerson, Everett, and Don Pearl. Many thanks to the VON who provided services to Kay from November 2, 2015 to February 28, 2017; Evergreen Home for their special care from March 1 to 13, 2017; Valley Regional Hospital; her family doctor, Dr. Burden; and to all those who sent messages of condolence. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at Moose Brook Chapel, Moose Brook on Friday, March 24 at 2pm, Rev.
