CROSSLEY - Shirley Ann (Hennigar), age 78, of Truro, formerly of Five Mile River. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Shirley Crossley, on March 21, 2017 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro with her family by her side. Born in Noel on March 8, 1939, she was the youngest of four children of the late William and Ruth (Hennigar) Hennigar. Shirley worked as a caregiver in her community and surrounding area for a number of years, and was a very active member of St. Peters Guild. She enjoyed knitting and having many telephone conversations with her family and friends, and especially enjoyed the special times spent with her grandchildren. Mum's sense of humour and love of life endeared her to all who knew her. Shirley is survived by her children, Darlene (Donnie Ettinger), Upper Kennetcook; Cheryl (Chris Singer), Pleasant Valley; Mark (Lorraine), Five Mile River; Kirk (Lalia), Maitland; Greg (Kim), Montreal; and Darren (Lois), Truro; and brothers, Russell and Doug. She will be dearly missed by her 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Ervin; sister, Pauline; and great-granddaughter, Skyler. The family wishes to thank Dr. L. Hindler and receptionist Kathy, the VON, Palliative Care, the Hospice Society and Continuing Care; with special thanks to Cheryl, Darren, and Lois for being there unconditionally. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. Please join us for a Celebration of Shirley's Life on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 2pm at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, Rev. Fred Rhymes officiating, with interment in St. Peters Anglican Church Cemetery, Upper Kennetcook, followed by a reception at the Four Points Recreation Center, Upper Kennetcook.
