Obituary of Rodrigue Ernest Joseph Dionne

DIONNE - Rodrigue "Rod" Ernest Joseph, age 76, of East Noel, passed away on August 17, 2017 at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in La Pocatiere, Quebec, he was a son of the late George and Arthemis (Pelletier) Dionne. Rod served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 22 years. A devoted fan of Rocket Richard and the Montreal Canadiens, he played goalie and mentored as a hockey coach. He enjoyed playing darts, was a tireless community volunteer and loved spending time with his family and friends. Rod is survived by his wife of 48 years, Doreen (Miller); daughter, Meichelle Dionne, Truro; sons, Marcel Dionne, Dartmouth, and Craig Miller, Victoria, B.C.; and grandchildren, Morgan, Ryan, and Patrick O'Neill. As well, he has many brothers and sisters living in Quebec. Besides his parents, Rod was predeceased by granddaughter Miranda Willson, brother Dennis, Quebec; brother-in-law Wayne Miller; and parents-in-law, Hibbert and Thelma (Gill) Miller. Cremation has taken place with no visitation or service by request. A Celebration of Life will take place Tuesday, August 22 at 2pm at Burntcoat Head Park, N.S.
