Obituary of Jean Doris Kelly

KELLY – Jean Doris (Singer), age 95, of Hillsvale, Hants Co., passed away peacefully on November 14, 2017 at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Shubenacadie on October 12, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Mildred (Singer) Crawford and stepfather Albert Crawford. Jean enjoyed Bingo and card games. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother who be forever loved and sadly missed. Jean is survived by her daughters, Katheryn Elliott (Robert), Patricia (Wood) Slaunwhite, and Debbie Meehan (Richard); 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her loving husband, Allan George; son, Marshall Allan; brothers, Clarence “Ted” Singer, Douglas Singer, Stanley “Bus” Singer, and Douglas Crawford; sisters Kate (MacDonald) and Isabel (Crawford) Wall; sons-in-law Wallace Wood and Richard Slaunwhite; and great-grandson Jordan Wood. Special thanks to the Palliative Care workers at Hants Community Hospital for their care and kindness. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request; a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 18 from 12pm-2pm at the Rawdon Gold Mines Community Hall, Rev. Angus R. MacDonald officiating. Private interment at a later date. Donations in memory of Jean may be made to Palliative Care, 89 Payzant Drive, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0; or South Rawdon Cemetery.
