Obituary of Daisy Eleanor Sanford

Please share a memory of Daisy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

SANFORD – Daisy Eleanor (Crossley), age 94, of Windsor Back Road. Our dear sweet mom was greeted by her heavenly Father, husband Cyril Grant Sanford, and predeceased family members at the Gates of Heaven on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Bramber on June 5, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Martha (Lake) Crossley. The loves of Mom’s life were her family (God bless their little cotton socks), and playing her fiddle and guitar as well as singing at the Three Mile Plains jam sessions. She loved her childhood home in Bramber and often said some of the best times of her life happened there. She was an active member in her community hall well into her later years, as witnessed by her many awards over the years. She also enjoyed being a member of Windsor Community Choir. Mom could always be heard humming or singing a tune around her home, and she always had a smile on her face and a tune in her heart. Mom had a kind heart and a generous soul. She always had an open door for any and all who chose to enter. Mom’s only wish would be for everyone to have kindness and love in their lives, and a song in their hearts. She will be forever loved and sadly missed by her family. Daisy is survived by her children, Phillip (Valerie), Jackie (Frank), and Dawn. She was supremely proud of all her six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her special niece, Marge; daughter-in-law Pat, and a very large extended family. Besides her parents and husband, Daisy was predeceased by her siblings, Hermenia Sketchley, Iva MacDonald, Eldridge, Raymond, Cleve, and Medford Crossley. The family would like to thank the Home Care program for assisting us in keeping Mom in her own home for the 15 months. She loved all the “girls”, and many laughs were heard throughout the house when they were there. Cremation has taken place; visitation will be held from 1-2pm with a memorial service at 2pm on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Summerville, Rev. Garnet Parker officiating, with a reception to follow at Three Mile Plains Community Hall, 4429 Evangeline Trail, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0. Private interment at Riverside Cemetery. Donations may be made to Riverside Cemetery c/o Dawn Allen, 3432 Hwy 215, Centre Burlington, NS B0N 1E0. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 215, Summerville, ph-1-902-633-2431 or please visit our website at www.allenfh.ca to sign the guest book or send private condolences.
