Charles 'Charlie' Granson Macumber; age 91, Pembroke, passed away at Haliburton Place, Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, N.S. on November 2, 2019. Born in Bramber on May 9, 1928, he was a son of the late James and Ethel(Lake) Macumber. Charlie was a devoted family man and loved all his family and his furry friend, 'Tubbs’ dearly. He had many jobs throughout his life; working in the woods, driving heavy equipment and working in the gypsum and barite mines. He was especially proud of his time spent as school bus driver for West Hants School District and retired with 27 years of service. Charlie enjoyed working on his small farm, watching WWE wrestling, listening to good Ole' country music, going to the jams, dancing with his friends and telling silly jokes.
Charlie is survived by his daughter, Brenda (Keith LeBlanc), Musquash, NB; and his son, Ivan (Shannon), Pembroke. He was a proud Grampie and Papa to Christine (Shane Blount), Barrett, Jason (Jill), Odessa(Alan), Colton(Debbie) and Tyson(Nicole) and 12 great-grandchildren; Sierra, Michael(Brianna), Kiana, Cohen, Kaiden, Jacob, Mary, Carter, Zoey, Janelle, Regan and Grayson; his brother, Clayton(Lila), Edmonton and his sister, Doreen Tucker, Centre Burlington, his special girl; his niece, Joanne 'Josie' Beck and many nieces and nephews.
Charlie was predeceased by his loving wife, Celia(Laffin), a son, Walter James, in infancy and brothers; Henry, Leland, Samuel, Everett, Stafford, Parnell, Maynard and sisters; Izetta(McNamara), Elsie(Armstrong), Marjorie(Lynch), Eva(McKinley). The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to his granddaughter, Odessa for her loving care and support while Charlie was in the hospital.
Cremation has taken place and a visitation will be held Tuesday, November 5th from 7-9 pm and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 6th at 2pm both in the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Garnet Parker officiating. A reception will follow at the Walton Fire Hall.Private family Interment will take place following service at Cambridge Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in Charlie's memory may be made to the Windsor Elms Village - Meadowview Landing Wing 1, 174 Dyke Rd, Falmouth NS.
