Obituary of Gary Morris Beaton

BEATON – Gary Morris, age 70, of New Minas, formerly of Mantua, passed away on October 9, 2018 at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Springhill on November 3, 1947, he was the son of the late Murdoch and Vera (Smith) Beaton. Gary worked all his life as a truck driver. He shared his love of music at the jams and nursing homes, attended many local benefits, and was even singing while he was in the hospital. Gary is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Sharon (Clarke); his children, Gary (Tanya), Airdrie, AB; Mark, New Minas; and Lisa (Chad) Moulaison, Dartmouth; his grandchildren, Melissa, Megan, Riley, Jenna, Jessica, Julianna, Jayelyn, and Jayme-Lynn; great-grandson Declan; sister, Faye Beaton, Truro; and many nieces and nephews. In honour of Gary’s love of music, there will be a celebration with refreshments at the Three Mile Plains Community Hall on Friday, October 12 from 7-9pm. Private burial at a later date. Donations in memory of Gary may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 5826 South Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia, B3H 1S6. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of J.
