Obituary of Alan Croft

It is with broken hearts that the family the late Alan Bruce Croft, 73 of North Noel Road, announce the sudden passing on Feb 8, 2025. Alan was born in Moser River, Halifax County NS to the late Ellsworth and Anna (Shiers) Croft, also of Moser River. Alan held many different positions over his working career; in 1971, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces, where he received his trade in heavy equipment. Later, Alan worked for Dominix Construction, Metro Transit from 1980 to 1989, forestry, and in 2017, he retired after 23 years of service with Irving Oil. Alan was a loving husband, an amazing father, and devoted grandfather. He was the backbone of our family. Alan was an outdoorsman, as well as an avid gun collector. He could often be found out in the wood pile, splitting his "winter wood". Left to mourn is his loving wife of 55 years, Carol (Wells) Croft, North Noel Road; daughters, Angela, Dartmouth, Charlene, at home, Catherine (Atkinson), Chester and the pride and joy of his heart, his only grandson Benjamin Alan Atkinson of Chester; sisters Joan (Dave) Richards, Greenwood, Jean Cross, Halifax, Pauline (Joe) Poulin, Dartmouth; Brother Bud (Heather), New Chester, and a very cherished brother-in-law James (Charolette) Wells, of Liverpool; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Alan is predeceased by his son-in-law Benjamin Atkinson Sr, who he thought of as a son of his own. Alan will be sadly missed, forever loved, and remembered by all who knew him. His laughter & legacy will live on through his children & grandson. Cremation has been taken place. A celebration of Life and burial with be announced at a later date Donation in memory of Alan may be made to your local SPCA or a charity of their choice.
