Fred Rines Obituary

Rines, Frederick “Fred” Owen - 73 of Avonport, passed away quietly on April 20, 2025, after residing at the Evergreen Nursing Home for the past 4 1/2 years.


Born on August 3, 1951, in Wolfville. He was the son of the late Norris (Peter) Rines and Margaret (Kelly) Rines.


Fred enjoyed playing cards, fishing," night hunting", ski-dooing, and doing car models and drawing in his younger years. He was a perfectionist at everything he put his hands on. Fred worked with his father for Rines and Son's Well Drilling Limited most of his life.


Fred is survived by:

- Partner of 21 yrs: Paulette “Puggy” Lowry of Avonport; daughters Kelly MacAskill and Karen Fletcher; 7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; stepdaughter Marlene Myles and two step grandchildren; Sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Rines of West Gore (Art Webb), Margaret (Margie) Redden of West Gore (Stephen); Brother, Dale Rines and brother-in-law Ronald Tracey


Besides his parents, Fred is predeceased by his older sister, Shirley Tracey


He will be missed dearly by all his family and friends.


Cremation has taken place, and a visitation will be held Saturday June 14/25 from 2-3 pm followed by a memorial service at 3 pm both in the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 354 Kennetcook. Rev. Mike Poworoznyk officiating with private family burial in the Kennetcook Cemetery. Following the committal everyone is invited to the West Gore Desciple Church basement, West Gore for a time of fellowship and light refreshments.
