Obituary of Lyman Densmore

Please share a memory of Lyman to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lyman Asa Densmore (“Unc”), 90 of East Noel wilfully died on his own terms on June 28, 2025, but that sharp funny mind was strong to the very end. His smile and quick wit will once again grace his parents and brothers who passed before him. Lyman was a contradiction on many levels. He was a person who loved nature, the Noel Shore Game Protection Association and the hunting camp but was not as keen to actually kill anything. You were more likely to find him under a tree eating BB Bats candy than actually tracking a deer. He was retired longer than he worked as a unit manager at CBC. He was a confirmed bachelor who was surrounded by generations of children laughing, joking, wrestling over furniture, golfing or just appreciating him showing up to watch their games. There was an inner child present that children and adults alike related to. Lyman loved food and made a mean gingerbread that he often brought to family meals that he so enjoyed being a part of. He loved the socialness of Tim Horton’s, community gatherings, country jamborees and, in his later years, church. He also loved the solitude of gardening and watching Sunday afternoon golf. Lyman was known for his kindness. The number of people who visited Lyman while he was in the hospital and nursing home demonstrated the positive impact he left on those around him. The family extends a special thank you to Betty Densmore and Andrew Eisan who were such a comfort to Lyman, especially in his last few months. Someone joked that they thought Lyman had died four times last month. He lived life on his own terms and fought hard to also die on his own terms. He is now gone but we are all the better for having shared the time we had with him. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 166 in Noel on Saturday, July 19 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. A private burial service will be held at East Noel graveyard following the Celebration of Life. Donations in Lyman’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 354 Kennetcook, N.S. Ph 1-902-362-2440 or visit our website at allenfh.ca to sign the guest book or leave a private condolence.
