June Lyghtle Obituary

June Lyghtle Obituary

Our beautiful mother, grandmother, great - grand mother passed away with her loving family by her side in the QEll, Halifax after a brief illness. Born in Hull, Quebec on June 30, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Aldage and Helen Derouin.

She is survived by her daughter Jocelyn (Kirby) Brown, Son’s Kevin (Laura) Lyghtle, Andrew (Kelly) Lyghtle. Grandsons Shawn (Kristen), Cayden (Madi) and Brayden. Grand daughters Katie (Glendon), Tara (Michael), Kaylee, Braylee and 14 great grandkids who lovingly called her Nanny BooBoo. She is also survived by her sister Susan Jardine.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband Gordon and five sisters.

June was very proud of her French heritage and although she was tiny in stature, she was a force to be reckoned with. She was well known in the community as the lady who taught people how to swim in the bay, regardless of the weather. She was an EA in later years and also loved her job as a grocery clerk.

June loved music and in her younger years she sang in a band and even recorded a record with her sisters. She played guitar and piano for many years and her radio was always on. June loved the outdoors, she loved to skate, cross country ski and she always loved a good walk right up until her illness. She was witty and had a wonderful sense of humour. She kept us smiling right up until her last day. We will miss her dearly but are happy she is finally reunited with her Gord.

We will forever be grateful for the amazing care she received at the QEII and also in the palliative care unit in the VG 7A. Thank you to all her wonderful nurses and doctors.
