Anson Sanford Obituary

Anson Tupper Sanford, age 65, of Union Corner, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, at Hants Community Hospital in Windsor.


Anson was born on January 21, 1960, in Riverside, Nova Scotia, to the late Bernard and Maggie (Lingard) Sanford.


Anson is survived by his sons, Andrew and Chad; his siblings Irene (Bob), Myrtle, Susan (Roger), Effie (Terry), Marie, and Sandra (Scott); his cherished grandchildren Jesse, Reese, and Karsyn-May; and his partner Shelly Saunders-Wilson, along with her children Jarid and Jocelyn. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.


Besides his parents, Anson is predeceased by his brother David Lingard.


Anson deeply loved his family and adored his grandchildren. His humor and quick wit were always close at hand, and he was known for his sharp one-liners and playful sense of humor. He was very proud to be a journeyman plumber and spent most of his career working with Action Plumbing. Anson had an exceptional work ethic, was highly skilled in his trade, and served as an inspiration to many.


A celebration of life will be held at the Brooklyn Civic Centre, 995 Highway 215, Newport, on January 10 at 2:00 p.m.

A private family burial will be held at a later date!


Donations in Anson’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the caregivers who supported Anson throughout his journey, including the Dickson Centre, Valley Regional Hospital, Hants Community Hospital, and Amber Phillips.
