Wayne Hutchinson Obituary

Wayne Allan Hutchinson, 68, of Kentville (formerly of Wilmot), passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 4, 2026. Born on February 10, 1957, in Chatham, New Brunswick, Wayne was the son to the late Kenneth Ronald Hutchinson and Mary Irene McLaughlin.

Wayne lived a life shaped by dedication, a quiet but enduring love for family, technology, and the comforts of home.

Wayne was someone who took pride in what he did and how he did it. From a young age, he learned the value of hard work while helping at B&D Car Hop in Wilmot, a business owned by his father, Kenneth Ronald Hutchinson (Hutch), home of the Hutch Burger. Those early years laid the foundation for a lifetime of reliability, problem-solving, and independence.

He later managed LMK Bowling Lanes, where his steady nature and attention to detail made him well suited to leadership. Always eager to learn, Wayne then pursued his interest in technology and graduated from the ITI Computer Institute in Halifax. That passion led him to operate Old Mill Computer Services in Greenwood, where he enjoyed helping others understand and work with computers at a time when technology was rapidly changing. Wayne ended his working career with Paladin Security, where his calm presence and dependability were valued.

Technology was more than just work for Wayne—it was a lifelong passion. He took great pride in his entertainment systems and enjoyed keeping up with new advancements, always finding satisfaction in building, improving, and perfecting the systems he cared about.

In his later years, Wayne found constant companionship in his beloved cat, Roy, who shared the last 12 years of his life. Roy was always close by, offering comfort, routine, and quiet company.

Wayne was predeceased by his mother, father; sister Marlene, stepfather, Lloyd “Ed” Hebb; and stepmother, Gwen (Parks) Hutchinson.

He is survived by his daughters, Holly Hutchinson (Kyle Anderson), Ontario, Lori Crossley (Nick), Noel; and grandchildren, Blossom, Jackson, and Ari, who brought joy and meaning to his life brother, Gerald, Ontario; Jaqueline, his step-siblings Rocky (Debbie) Hebb, Cambridge, Ricky (Nancy) Hebb, New Albany, Ed (LeAnne) Hebb, Wilmot, Tim Parks, Greenwood, Patti (Vernon), Kingston, Kim Parks; Uncle Amedee McLaughlin, NB; Aunts Janet Martin, BC, Virginia Hunt (Sask.) and nieces and nephews.

Wayne will be remembered for his intelligence, his independence, his love of technology, and the quiet way he showed care for those closest to him. He leaves behind memories that will be held close and a presence that will be deeply missed.

Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A celebration of life and a private family burial will be held at a later date.
