Hawkins, David William — 65 of Upper Kennetcook, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre in Truro.
Born in Kingston, Ontario, on July 4, 1960, David was the son of the late Albro Hawkins and Ethel (Hennigar) Hawkins. He served for 15 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, Air Force, as an Armourer. Following his military service, David worked various jobs before retiring from the Ironworkers Union, where he spent many years tying steel.
David enjoyed listening to music, spending time with his wife, daughters, and dog, and being back at the camp with the boys.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mavis (Fahey) Hawkins; daughters Christine Hawkins (Sandra Fraser), Cindy Hawkins (Keith Simm), and Jessica Hawkins; grandson Austin Simm; siblings Edie White, Debbie Burns (Wayde), and Ben Hawkins (Ruth); mother-in-law Beverly (Fenton) Fahey; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
David is predeceased by his parents, Albro and Ethel Hawkins; his brother, James “Jimmy” Hawkins; father-in-law, LeBlanc “Blon” Fahey; and brother-in-law, Andrew “Andy” White.
Cremation has taken place, with no visitation by request. A celebration of life will be held at the Kennetcook Fire Hall on Saturday, January 31, at 2:00 p.m. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
