Janice Singer Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our older sister Janice Elizabeth Singer on February 4th, 2026 after a short courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 12, 1951, she was the first born and first daughter of the late Jim and Claire (Lingard) Singer.

Janice was always a hard worker and started her job journey at Edgehill Girl’s School in Windsor. She left there for a job in the mailroom of Maritime Tel & Tel and after working her way through different department of the company she found her place in the collection and fraud department where she remained until her early retirement. But she soon found herself bored with retirement and worked part-time for several years with a private collection company.

Janice was also a very advent sports person. She enjoyed watching sports but most of all being a part of the action. During her time at Hants North Rural High she was a member of the volleyball and soccer teams, but her absolute favorite and love of her life sport was softball. This is where she spent many years playing for the Shore Shots, often in Provincial Tournaments. When she finally gave into the fact she was getting to old to play (which we say this with great laughter) because she never really gave into this fact. She decided with the help of her Dad and community support to rebuild the baseball field in Minasville and get the youth in the surrounding communities interested in ball again. She always believed you where never to young to play. She coached many youth in the area and eventually started coaching some of their children. She always wanted the youth she coached to enjoy the game and have pride in themselves. Along side of sports her other love was fishing, you could find her up a brook or river and on the beach bass fishing.

Janice leaves behind to grieve the lose in their lives sisters Joan Worth and Jocelyn White both of Beaver Bank, Niece Cindy White (Chris Russell) Sutherland Lake, Nephew Scott Worth(Naomi) Lower Sackville, Great nephew Nathan Worth (Lower Sackville),her little fur baby Sasha, Aunts and Uncles – Blaire Singer, Alton (Edna) Singer, Audrey Kitchen, Doris Sanford and Paulette Sanford, many cousins. Her (many many) friends she made through out the years.

We would like to thank her extended family for their support of her and the support they have given to us, Marleigh and Lindsay Munford, Cliff and Patsy Wood, Jimmy Brown

Special thanks to our cousin Inez who stayed and looked after her when she left the hospital after her 1st surgery.
