Marlene Smith Obituary

Marlene Anne Smith (62) of Walton, NS passed away on February 14, 2026, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, after a very hard-fought battle with lung cancer, surrounded by those she loved most.

Born on December 13, 1963, she was the daughter to the late Burpee and Evelyn (Green) Smith of Walton, where she would eventually build her own home with her four children.

Marlene was a very strong and courageous woman, who overcame many hardships in her life. No matter the situation she always went above and beyond, whether it was her role as a mother, her job as a traffic control supervisor at Eastern Traffic Services for the last 20 years or just being there for family and friends.

Marlene enjoyed spending time with her family, having BBQ’s, pool parties and family dinners. She really cherished time spent with her “Grand Babies” having sleep overs and doing lots of baking. Marlene also loved the special times she spent camping, going to drive-in movies and out to dinner with her partner of 20 years, Mark.

Marlene is survived by her partner Mark Cohoon (Walton); daughters Cheryl Snow (Halifax) and Stephanie Snow (Walton); son Ryan Snow and daughter-in-law Tara Burgess-Snow (Walton); son-in-law Brett Wood (Hilden); sister Shelley Morris (Walton); brother Andrew Smith (Walton); very much loved grandchildren, Serenity, Sierra, Payson and Madelynn Snow (all of Walton), Adam and Olivia Wood (of Hilden).

Besides her parents, Marlene is predeceased by her beloved eldest daughter, Mandy (Smith) Wood.

Following cremation, Marlene will be interred next to her daughter Mandy at the cemetery in Walton, where a small private family graveside service will take place.

Donations in memory can be made to The Cancer Society, Grace United Church in Walton or to the CT For Life campaign at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.
