Shirley Lorena Wilcox, 89, Cambridge, Hants Co. Passed away on March 25 ,2026 in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, with her family by her side.

Born in Cambridge, Hants Co., on July 18, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Alan and Mildred (Conley) Starratt.

Mum loved flowers, birds, children and attending old time dances with dad. Most of all she loved her home and family. Mum was the last surviving sibling of her large family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Aubrey in August of 2025 and son Darrell in April 2018. Brothers Leroy, Hector (in infancy), Thaddy, Frankie (Erma), Avard (Francis), Arthur (Mary), Freddy, Harold and Herbie. Sisters, Eileen Millett (Chub), Dorothy McLellan (Clyde), Eleanor Brown (Bernard). Brothers – in – law, George (Bud) Mason, Arleigh Wilcox. Sisters in law, Ethel Wilcox and Mavis Wilcox.

She is survived by her son, Brian Wilcox (Bonnie), daughters Shawn Gould (Laurie), Shannon Coolen (Jim), daughter in law Carol Wilcox. Grandchildren: Brandon (Nathan), Justin (Madison), Samantha (Leonard), Amanda (Jeremy), Linkin and Odin.

Great grandchildren: Serenity, Destiny, Jackson, and Parker.

Mum was also a loving grandmother to the exchange students that became part of our family over the years. “Grammie Wilcox” was loved by each and every one of them.

Brother-in-law Harold Wilcox and Sisters in law Ada Starratt, Ethel Halbgewachs, Ardith Mason. Many nieces and nephews.

Mum required twenty-four hour a day care over the last 7 and half months and we were fortunate to have a wonderful, caring, group of ladies to help our family look after her and loved her like their own family. Sherry, Anne, Kim, Heidi, Emma, Makayla and Andrea. You all went above and beyond, and we will always be grateful for your kindness.

Also, a special thanks to Tara Jones, Community Care Coordinator, Nurses and staff on Unit 200, Hants Community Hospital, Dr. Julie Marie MacKinnon -Halifax, last but not least, Amber Phillips. Your kindness and care for our mum did not go unnoticed.

A graveside committal service will be held on Sunday April 26, 2026, at 2 pm in the Pembroke Cemetery, Pembroke, Hants co.
