Audrey Kitchin Obituary
Kitchin, Audrey Beatrice
February 10,1928-May 21,2026
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my Mum, Audrey Beatrice Kitchin. Who will be greatly missed by her only daughter (Lucille), son-in-law (Gordon) & grandsons (Kyle & Kurt). As well as other family & friends that had the opportunity to meet/know her.
Audrey was born in Minasville, Hants County to the late William & Margaret (Reynolds) Singer.
In her younger years she worked at the Hants Co-op, Noel. This is where her collection of cups & saucers started. When the family moved to Dartmouth, Mum started a job with Scotiabank in June 1966 & retired in January 1991.
Audrey was involved with the United Church of Canada. She had received a certificate of appreciation in recognizing her valuable ministry in the life of the congregation as an Elder & a Steward as well as many other means. Audrey was a member of the Canadian Foresters and received many certificates from the Royal Canadian Legion in recognition of services rendered under Hants North Br#166.
Mum enjoyed a good game of cards (cribbage, 45’s, queens, crazy eights) & she loved to dance to country & western music. Mum also enjoyed entertaining, did some knitting & supplied her grandchildren with sweaters, socks, mittens, hats. Mum was a good cook, baker & made lots of preserves. (pickles, chow, jams/jellies) Mum loved to pick strawberries, cranberries, blueberries, marsh greens, & anything out of the garden. She enjoyed fishing, camping & liked to travel. Fortunately, she got to go on a few trips with friends/ family. (Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Mexico & visiting family in USA)
Audrey enjoyed meeting people & would strike up a conversation with strangers as easily as with lifelong friends. New friends were made because of this.
Audrey is survived by her daughter, Lucille (Gordon) Tomblin, Grandsons, Kyle (Chantainge) Elmsdale & Kurt (Rachel) Calgary, Alberta.
Audrey was very proud of her great-grandchildren. Elliott, Mackenzie & Penelope.
Brothers: Blair, Alton (Edna) & one sister: Doris
Many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Audrey was predeceased by: Her son: David; Husband: Hector; Brothers: Harry & Jim; Sisters: Emma, Liny & Edna
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the caring staff at Dykeland Lodge.
Cremation has taken place, with no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held in Noel United Church, June 6th at 2:00 pm, Reverend Larry Harrison as officiating. Followed by a reception in the Church’s basement. A private family committal service will be held at the Burntcoat Cemetery, Burntcoat.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, The Burntcoat Cemetery or charity of your choice.
