It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marjorie Kathleen McLellan on Thursday June 18, 2026 at the Windsor Elms Village Nursing Home at the age of 89.

Marjorie was born in Tenecape, Hants County, NS, on August 15, 1936 to the late Alma and George Brown.

Marjorie is survived by her loving daughters, Mary (Graham) Wilson, Dorothy McLellan, Connie (Jim) Michaelis, and son Laurie Martell (Bonnie Webb) McLellan; her 13 grandchildren: Cheryl (Craig), Darryl (Melissa), Lucas (Tiffany), Stephanie (Percy), Allison (Marsden), Matthew (Jenn), Curtis (Anise), Bradley, Jason (Andrea), Nicholas (Jocelyn), Laura (Blake), Megan, and Kaitie; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce (Philip) Davison and Helen (Harry) Eldridge; brother Reggie (Cathy); sons-in law Nelson MacAskill and Larry McLellan; and daughter-in-law Mandy McLellan; as well as many nieces, nephews and life-long friends.

Marjorie was pre-deceased by the love of her life and father of her children, Laurie McLellan; her second husband Percy Lake; her youngest daughter, Susan McLellan; brothers Jimmy, Almon, Arthur, and Robert; and sister Vera Flynn.

Marjorie was dedicated to family and devoted her life to caring for them in every way she could. She rejoiced in every milestone and felt every loss profoundly. She raised her own family and always had room for extra children who loved to spend time at her house and considered her a second Mum.

She was well known for the endless line-up of favourite pies on her counter top, her amazing home-made bread, and her ability to pull a good meal together at a moment’s notice when unexpected company dropped in, but even more so for her coming to the rescue whenever we needed her.

Marjorie enjoyed knitting, quilting, playing bingo, and card games with her many friends in the community. During her last eight years at the Elms, she made new connections, developed a love for music, and enjoyed a special bond with her sister Joyce.

Marjorie had a kindness of spirit that drew you to her, and a sense of humour that lightened every mood. The deep love of her grandchildren and their happy memories of fun filled days laughing and playing at “Grammie’s house” is a testament to how special she was.

Visitation will be Wednesday June 24, 2026 (1:00 - 2:00pm) followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm, both in the J Wilson Allen Funeral Home, 4646 Hwy 215, Summerville. Interment will take place immediately afterwards at the Tenecape Cemetery.
