Maude Lake Obituary
Maude Agnes Lake, 81 of Bramber, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Valley Regional Hospital on July 8, 2026. Born in Cheverie on April 7, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Lawson and Violet (Macumber) Morris.
Maude had many hobbies, but her favorites were a good game of Skip Bo or Tuc. On Sunday nights, more often than not, she could be found in the Green Hall in Noel Rd playing bingo. It was not uncommon to leave her house with a fresh loaf of homemade bread or whatever pie she had in the freezer. She loved fiercely and doted on her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister, Lenore Morris, son, Avard Lake Jr, daughters, Gaylene Weatherbee and Leona Lake (Les), her chosen sons, Chris Morris (Ida), Terry Lake (Leanne), Stephen Crossley and Mike Sabourin (Cindy). She was loved and will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Amanda (Scott) McLean, Tracy Burgess (Chad), Cody Lake (Kayla), Laura Lake (Tyler), Hannah LaPierre, Leslie Weatherbee, Christina (Mark) Gavel, Jacqueline Lake, Andrea (Jake) Hebert, Melissa Keddy, Dylan Lake, Samuel Lake and Jodi Mortimer-Lake. She was blessed to be great grandmother to 11 children. She will also be missed my many nieces and nephews.
Beside her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Avard (2023), brother, Merton and sisters, Marion and Minnie.
Special thanks to Mike Sabourin for making sure Maude had her sister by her side, to Laura for being there and making sure she was at peace, to Mickayla Carmichael and Peggy Burgess for looking after her and making sure she needed nothing, to Cheryl Leef for your companionship, and to the doctor and nurses of Valley Regional Hospital. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Bramber Cemetery with Rev. Mike Poworozynk officiating. A reception will follow at the New Horizons Centre, Bramber, NS.
Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Bramber Cemetery C/O Dawn Barkhouse or Bramber New Horizons Centre.
