The Reverend Lorraine Anne MacAskill April 4, 1951-August 25, 2026

It is with great sadness we share the passing of Lorraine Anne MacAskill at the Hospice Care Unit of the Dartmouth General Hospice.

Along with the sorrow, we are filled with a great appreciation for the blessing of having Lorraine in our lives all these years.

Born in 1951 in Kennetcook, Lorraine was the daughter ofthe late Murray and Ethel (Wilcox) MacAskill. She completed grade school at Hants North, then attended Mount Allison and went on to the Atlantic School of Theology where she was ordained as a minister of the United Church of Canada in 1975.

From 1975 to 1992 she spent many wonderful years working out west in Kinistino-Ethelton Saskatchewan, Meadowgood Winnipeg and Selkirk Manitoba where she made lifelong friends through her work and personality.

In her spare time, she enjoyed music and theater and having a good time with friends. She was always up for a laugh and brightened up a room when she entered.

Besides her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Randy Sheppard and her brother David.

She is survived by her brother Rodney his wife Barb and son Kenny as well as Davids wife Barb and son mike.

Lorraine asked that any donations be made to animal welfare groups such as Hope for Wildlife or the SPCA.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Dartmouth General Hospital Hospice ward for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Lorraine during her time there.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will take place at the Kennetcook United Church Cemetery on September 8th at 2 PM.
