Hanes, Kerry Stephen, age 65, of East Walton. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Kerry on November 21, 2016 at home. Born on May 31, 1951 in Upper Kennetcook, he was the son of the late Thelma Newton (Hanes) and was raised lovingly by the late Viola and Bill Hanes. Kerry worked for 29 years at Volvo in Bayers Lake and later at the Superstore in Elmsdale. He was an easy-going, quiet presence who thought the world of the kids. He enjoyed fishing, spending time at the hunting camp, and gardening. Kerry had a kind compassion for animals and dearly missed his four-legged sidekick Savanah. Kerry is survived by his loving and devoted companion Veralyn; sons, John and Gary; daughter Nancy; stepsons Brian and Barry (Allison); grandchildren Jennifer, Aleigha, Bradley, Lillian, Lucas and Lena; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Kerry was predeceased by his brothers Art, Lawrence, Lewis and Bobby; and sister, Neta Burns. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 26 from 1-3pm with a memorial service on Sunday, November 27 at 2pm, both at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, Rev. Debra Mosher officiating. Interment at Tennecape Cemetery following the service. Donations in memory of Kerry may be made to the SPCA Hants County Branch, PO Box 2274, Windsor, NS, B0N 2T0. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 354, Kennetcook, ph 1-902-362-2440 or please visit our website at www.allenfh.ca to sign the guest book or send private condolences.
