Gordon Benedict Obituary

Benedict, Gordon Eugene, 87, of Windsor, formerly of Belmont, Hants Co., passed away on June 22, 2014 at Dykeland Lodge. Born in Belmont on September 15, 1926, he was a son of the late James and Bessie (Benedict) Benedict. Gordon was a long-time member of the Brooklyn Fire Department, and enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and working with his hands. Gordon is survived by his children, Avis (Carvell) McNutt, Helen (Charles) White, Gail (Jaime) Dykens, and Gregory (Linda) Benedict; his grandchildren, Ryland and Lian McNutt, Amy, Adam, and Ally White, Roy, Abigail and Mitchell Dykens, and Holly and Justin Benedict; four great-grandchildren; his brother, Lewis Benedict; and many nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn (Fish) Benedict; and his sisters Gladys, Dorothy, Marion, Winnie, Muriel, and Lottie. Visitation will be held from 7-9pm on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Summerville, with a graveside committal service at the Belmont Cemetery at 2pm on Thursday, June 26, 2014, Pastor Debbie Mosher officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gordon's memory may be made to Dykeland Lodge or the Belmont Cemetery, c/o Sylvia Sanford, 1192 Belmont Road, RR2 Newport, N.S. B0N 2A0.
