BRISON, Ruth Mary Louise, age 79, of Wentworth Road, Windsor, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born in Clarksville on June 7, 1935, she was the only daughter of the late John and Hattie (O'Leary) Saunders. Ruth taught school in Riverside and Cheverie, NS; then went to Mack Business College and after graduation worked in various offices such as Acadia University, Payzant Memorial Hospital, and Hants Community Hospital. Due to Ruth's passion for dogs, she started her boarding and grooming business which she ran for 30 years. She was loved by all her canine friends and made many wonderful friends with their owners. She also bred Pekingese and Toy Poodles under the Winckworth prefix and had many champion dogs. Ruth was a kind, loving, and supportive mother and grandmother who always thought of her family and friends before herself. She will be sadly missed by all those whose lives she has touched over the years. Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Wesley; her daughter, Karen Redden, of Windsor; her son Karmen Brison and his wife Sheila, of Windsor; her granddaughter Caitlin, of Alberta; her grandson Tyler, of Alberta; her step-grandson, David, of Sackville; her brother, Paul Saunders; her half-sister, Melba Harvie; and her sister-in-law Mary Saunders. Ruth was predeceased by her brothers, Laurie, Freeman, Herbie, and Chesley. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 2pm at the Windsor United Church, 613 King St., Windsor, NS, Rev. Bill Gibson officiating, followed by a reception at the church with a private family interment to follow in the Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth's memory may be made to the Windsor United Church, c/o Ros MacDuff, PO Box 2037, 613 King St., Windsor, NS, B0N2T0.
