Harvie - Marion Gertrude, age 87, of Lunenburg, formerly of Gormanville, passed away on November 7, 2014 at Harbour View Haven, Lunenburg. Born on June 11, 1927 on Big Tancook Island, Marion was the daughter of the late Thomas and Gertrude (Cook) Mason. Her family moved from Big Tancook Island to live in Montreal from 1939 until 1943, when, before she turned 16, Marion spent a few months working at Murphy's Sewing Factory. She then worked at Government House, until Lt. Governor Kendall and his family moved to Windsor, where she worked for them from 1948 to 1950. Marion was an Avon representative for a year in 1964, worked as summer relief at Scotia Nursing Home, and worked at Crossley Karastan Carpets in Truro from 1974 to 1982. She loved to cook for people. A very caring woman, Marion was like a second mother to many. Marion is survived by her son, Richard, Gormanville; her daughter, Susan (Glyn) Hennigar, Barrington, N.S.; her grandchildren, Garry (Kim) Hennigar, Beth (Mike) Krpan, and Denyse (Bryan) Flewwelling; her great-grandchildren, Mason and Jacob Hennigar, Bradley and Tyler Krpan, and Katy Flewwelling; her brother, Earl "Bud" Mason; her uncles, Joe and Howie; her aunts, Carrie and Dora; and many nieces and nephews. Marion was predeceased by her husband, Garnet Harvie; and a son in infancy. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2014 from 2-4pm at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, with a memorial service on Monday, November 10, 2014 at 2pm at St. Paul's United Church, North Noel Road, Rev. Natalie Buchanan-Rutherford officiating, followed by a private family committal at North Noel Road Cemetery, North Noel Road. Following the service, there will be a reception at the Green Hall, North Noel Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Noel Road Cemetery.
