Wilfred Lake Obituary

Lake, Wilfred Harvey, age 73, of Taunton, Massachusetts, formerly of Newport Landing, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2014 at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Newport Landing on February 12, 1941, he was a son of the late Harvey and Grace (Benedict) Lake. Wilfred worked at Space Metal Buildings for 44 years until his retirement. Known as "Captain Willy", he spent his summers at the old homestead, fishing, boating, and relaxing by the Avon River tides. Wilfred also enjoyed watching golf, though he never played. He will be missed by his family and friends, and especially his dog, Sweetpea. Wilfred is survived by his son, Derrick; his daughters, Cindy, Kelly, and Robin; his grandson, Devin; his siblings, Barbara, Jean, Joyce, Carol, Mona, Victor, Edith, Phillip, William "Billy", Garnet, Shalana, Kenneth "Kenny", and Peggy; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Wilfred was predeceased by his son, Barry Wade. A graveside committal service will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at 2pm at the Newport Landing Cemetery, Newport Landing. Donations in memory of Wilfred can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Newport Landing Cemetery.
