Elmo White Obituary

White, Elmo Even, 71, of Noel Road, passed away on December 12, 2014 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, with his family by his side. Born in Noel Road on October 28, 1943, Elmo was a son of the late Robie and Bessie (White) White. Elmo was an ironworker with Local 752 for 40 years, retired from Rendan Fabricators. He was an avid sports fan, playing baseball for the better part of five decades. Elmo spent most of his free time reading, listening to music, fishing, and playing cards, washer toss, darts, and horseshoes. He was a familiar face at most community functions. Elmo is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy (Laffin); sons Mitchell, of North Noel Road, and Shannon (Dorothy Lake), of Fort McMurray, Alberta; and grandchildren Matthew, Lindsay, Kirklon, and Shaylon, whom he loved and cherished very much. He is also survived by his brothers, Reuben and Reid; and sisters Joan Parks, Golda Wright, Shelda Hamilton, and Jolene Laffin. Elmo was predeceased by brothers Artie and Roscoe and sister Stella McNicoll. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses on the 3-D wing for their care during Elmo's stay. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 2pm in the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, Rev. Angus R. MacDonald officiating, followed by a private family committal service in the North Noel Road Cemetery. Donations in memory of Elmo can be made to the North Noel Road Cemetery.
