Meehan, Ross Aubrey - age 84, of Rawdon Gold Mines, passed away at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro, on January 2, 2015 surrounded by his family. Born in Rawdon Gold Mines on January 26, 1930, Ross was a son of the late Aubrey and Thelma (Lattie) Meehan. Ross worked alongside his father and brother Winston at J. A. Meehan & Sons, the meat-cutting business started by his father. Ross served on the Credit Union Board of Directors for over 30 years, and was an active member of the Rawdon Hills United Church, both as a member of the Board of Trustees and as a lifelong Elder. He enjoyed snowmobiling in his earlier years, and loved to travel and meet new people. Ross was an honest and honorable man, who dedicated his life to hard work and helping others. The family extends their thanks for the wonderful care Ross received both at home and at Cedarstone. Ross is survived by his wife, Bertha (Edel) Meehan; his sons, Richard (Debbie) and David (Marlene); his daughter, Cathy (Bruce) Gammon; his grandchildren, Tanya (Chris), Ricky, Olivia, Emily, Adam, Luke, and Brandon; his great-grandchildren, Shalena and Josie; his sisters, Kathleen "Kaye" (Russell) Weatherhead and Myrna (Bill) Inkpen; his brother, Winston; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Ross was predeceased by his son, Kevin; and his sister-in-law, Rae Meehan. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 5, 2015 from 5-8pm at the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, followed by a funeral service on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 2pm in the Rawdon Hills United Church, Upper Rawdon, M. Dale Crawford DLM officiating, with a reception to follow at the Rawdon Gold Mines Community Hall. Following the service, cremation will take place with interment in the Rawdon Gold Mines Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Ross may be made to CNIB, the Rawdon Gold Mines Cemetery, or a charity of one's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J.
