Burns, Emerson Archibald - It is with heartfelt sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Emerson Archibald Burns, age 88, formerly of Kennetcook, on Thursday, January 22, 2015 in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on November 5, 1926 in Five Mile River, he was a son of the late Reuben and Gertrude (Dickson) Burns. Emerson worked as a woodsman with James MacAskill in Kennetcook for many years, as well as a custodian at the Hants North Rural High and Kennetcook Elementary. He was known as the "Hub Cap" man in Kennetcook, which was one of his hobbies. Emerson is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara (Singer); his sons, Roger and Wayne (Wandalee); his daughters, Sandra (Sandy) Wellwood, Becky (David) Neil, Sheila (Ricky) Campbell, and Sherry Lake; his brother, Edmund (Helen); his sister, Bernice (Gilbert) Ettinger; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Emerson was predeceased by his son, Michael, and a son in infancy; his brothers, Laurie, Walter, Albert, and Frank. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, January 26, 2015 at the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, Rev. Natalie Buchanan-Rutherford officiating, with a private family burial at the St. Peter's Anglican Cemetery, Upper Kennetcook. Donations in memory of Emerson may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J.
