Obituary of Shirley Wiseman
Please share a memory of Shirley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Shirley Adelia Wiseman, age 80, passed away on February 6, 2015 with her family by her side at home in Rawdon Gold Mines. Born on February 12, 1934 in Amherst, she was the only daughter of the late Judson and Adelia (Goodwin) Dowe. She married the love of her life, Ewart, from Newfoundland. Shirley's first job was working at the cinema in Amherst and she loved this job. It was probably so fitting because she looked like a movie star herself. She later took in boarders and worked various part-time jobs as her family was always her number one priority. The family lived in Lower Sackville for twenty years, moving to Rawdon in 1976. Shirley enjoyed outings with Ewart and her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially Jase, her rock, in the past few months. Saturdays included going to card parties and sunny days were filled with Shirley and Ewart driving to Boutilier's Point and, more recently, shopping trips with her family. A trip to Newfoundland filled with laughs and family visits was the highlight of Shirley's past summer. An extended visit from her brother Wendell brightened up her Autumn. Thanksgiving and Christmas with surprise visits and wonderful family gatherings celebrated what a very special person Shirley was. During her illness, Shirley's faith, strength and positive outlook never wavered and she filled her days with God and her family. Shirley is survived by her five children, Gloria, of Halifax; Hughie, of West Gore; Gary (Myrna), of Brantford, Ontario; David (Heather), of Rawdon Gold Mines; and Steven (Harlene), of West Gore; her grandchildren Matthew Judson, Adonus, James (Jennifer), Matthew (Tanya), Alex, Luke, Aulay and Judson; great-grandchildren Nicolai, Joscelyn, Bailey, Colton, and Jase; her brother Wendall, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ewart, and brothers Donald and Harold. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the V.O.N. and Palliative Care. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 11 at 2pm in the West Gore Disciples' Church, West Gore, Rev. Angus R MacDonald officiating, with a reception to follow at the church. Private family internment will be held in the West Gore Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Gore Disciples Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, ph-1-902-362-2440 or please visit our website at www.allenfh.ca to sign the guest book and send private condolences.
