Elsie Wilma Laffin, age 92, of Moose Brook, passed away peacefully at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro on February 10, 2015 with her family by her side. Born in Windsor Forks on February 18, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Douglas and Amy (Wilson) Wilson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A dedicated volunteer in her community, Elsie was a valued member and held offices with a variety of local groups, including the Minasville Women's Institute, Moose Brook/Minasville Volunteer Fire Department, and U.C.W.; she served as past President of the Moose Brook Chapel Organization and as past Elder of Noel United Church. She enjoyed quilting, bus trips, and card parties, but her greatest joy came from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elsie is survived by her children, Muriel, Lewis (Cathy), Vivian (Reid), and Donna (Dennis); her grandchildren, Glenna, Ruby, Nelson, Heather, Michael, Steven, Krista, Chelsea, Craig, and Katrina; 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Emmerson; her siblings, Delma MacLean, Evelyn Leverman, Rita Briggs, Mildred Macumber, Murray Wilson, and Wilbert Wilson; and her son-in-law Fred McLellan. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the VON homecare workers, the doctors and nurses at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, and to Sheila, Pam, and Terry for their care. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 20 at 7pm in Noel United Church, Rev. Larry Harrison officiating, with a reception to follow at the Minasville Hall. Private family interment at Moose Brook Cemetery will take place at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Elsie may be made to the Moose Brook Cemetery, Noel United Church, or to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of J.
