Chambers, Shirley Hazel - age 79, of Dartmouth. It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on February 18, 2015 at Dartmouth General Hospital, surrounded by her devoted family. Born on February 1, 1936 in Walton, Shirley was a daughter of the late Wes & Greta (Hazel) Sanford. Her greatest accomplishment in life was her family; she will be dearly missed by all that knew her. Shirley is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lester Chambers; her daughters, Kathy (Dan) and Anne (Ricky); her sons, Ricky (Wanda), Chris (Glenna), Les (Kim), and Jamie (Lesley); her grandchildren, Ashley, Jeramie, Brianne, Ricky, Sheryl, Amanda, Shelby, Shane, Leah, Courtney, Alexa, Matt, Nick, Nicole, and Kathie Lee; and her great-grandchildren, Christian and Cole. She was a beloved sister of Bev, Enfield; Laurie, Prince George; Winnie (Ralph), Truro; Ruthie (Cyril), Windsor; and Terry, Cambridge; and an aunt to many nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by a son in infancy. The family wishes to send special thanks to Dr. Carla MacDonald, Dr. Rappard, and the wonderful staff of 3 West at Dartmouth General Hospital. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25 at 1pm followed by a funeral service at 2pm, both at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Summerville, Rev. Angus R. MacDonald officiating; following the service a private family interment will take place at Grace United Church Cemetery, Walton.
