Obituary of Robie Green

Robie Blanchard Green, 88, Bible Hill, formerly of Noel Road passed away on February 23, 2015 at Vimy Court, Bible Hill, NS. Born in Noel Road he was a son of the late Robert Merton and Stella Mae (White) Green. Robie worked in the lumber industry for many years and enjoyed watching most sporting events, particularly horse racing and baseball. He also liked to play cards and do the daily cryptoquotes and other puzzles until vision problems in his later years made this impossible. Robie was always up for a good political discussion and no one was ever left wondering where his support was directed. He is survived by his sister, Evelyn (Burpee) Smith, Walton; niece Eleanor (Walter) Roulston, Upper Rawdon; nephews Robert Greene, Currys Corner, Wayne (Shauna) Greene, North Noel Road; nieces Dawn Leigh (Tony Webb) Green, Halifax; Marlene (Mark Cahoon) Smith, Walton, Shelley (Rodney Morris) Smith, Walton and nephew Andrew Smith, Walton. Robie is also survived by uncle, Frank Green, Bible Hill, sister-in-law Eileen Barr, Truro and special cousin Donna White, Noel Road, with whom he resided for several years, as well as numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews and their families. Besides his parents, Robie was predeceased by his brothers Ralph and Melvin, sisters Alda and Hilda and sister-in-law, Grace Greene. Robie was a treasured brother, uncle, cousin and friend and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. There will be a visitation at J Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, NS on Thursday, Feb. 26 from 6 - 8 pm. Graveside service will be held at North Noel Road Cemetery on Friday Feb. 27 at 2 pm, Chuck Paterson officiating, with a reception to follow at the Rainbow Community (Green) Hall. The family would like to thank staff and residents of Vimy Court and Townsview Estates for their care and companionship over the last few years.
