Obituary of Wilfred Watson

WATSON, Wilfred Leslie - 70, of Pembroke Hants County, passed away in Hants Community Hospital on November 13, 2012. Born May 7, 1942 in St. Croix, he was the son of the late Wallace and Laura (Tanner) Watson. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His dedication to his children, family and friends and his strong will to live was an inspiration to all. Les enjoyed travelling, camping, reading, music and dancing. After his marriage to his wife Dolores in 1963, they moved to Victoria, BC where Les worked for Sooke Forest Products. In 1975 they moved back to Pembroke where he owned and operated Watson's Irving Service Station for 5 years. They moved to Digby in 1980. Les was the former owner of D&L Auto Supplies in Digby for 17 years. Upon his retirement and return to Pembroke, he was a volunteer fireman for the Walton Shore Fire Department and was Fire Chief for 3 years. He is survived by his wife Dolores of 49 years, daughter Shelley (Bev), son Philip (Evelyn), grandchildren Courtney, Emily, Brady, great grandchildren Alexa and Olivia, sisters Joyce (Keith), Annie, brother Herman and many nieces and nephews. Les was predeceased by his brother Norm (Porky) and sister Nellie. In all he did, he gave of himself. He was loved and will be missed by many. Cremation has taken place with visitation Friday November 16, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. and a memorial service will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 2 p.m. both in the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 215, Summerville, Alex Mosher officiating with a private family interment in the Pembroke Cemetery, Pembroke. Reception to follow in the Walton Shore Fire Hall, Walton. . In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Walton Shore Fire Department or the charity of one's choice. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Hants Community Hospital who provided kindness and compassion while in their care. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J.
