Wood, Elmer Royce, of Kennetcook - It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Elmer Royce Wood announces his passing on April 4, 2015 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, at the age of 84. Born in Nine Mile River on January 21, 1931, Royce was the son of the late Elmer & Florence (MacHardie) Wood. Royce was a hard worker and always provided well for his family, holding various jobs throughout his lifetime. Royce and Gwen enjoyed many summers camping at Whale Creek in Walton. His favorite thing to do was spend time with his family. He also enjoyed bowling, darts, washer toss, fishing, and cards. Royce is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 61 years, Gwen (White). He was a proud father to his son, Arnie (Deannie Campbell) and daughter Wendy (Eldon) Hebb. The lights of his life were his grandchildren, Lori (Paul) Miller, Greg (Amy) Wood, Trevor (Maxine) Hebb, Shane (Laura) Hebb, Tracey Hebb (Chris); and his great-grandchildren, twins Kaylee and Tylar Wood, Haley and Camden Miller, Skylyn and Tenley Hebb, Rees, Cole and Lainey Hebb. Royce is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy (Gordon) McCulloch, Madge (Bert) White, and Elsie (Hollis) McCulloch; his brothers-in-law, Paul (Marie) White, Murray (Sharon) White, Nelson (Donna) White, Russ (Kathy) White; and he was loved by many special nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Royce was predeceased by his parents-in-law, Vincent and Florence (Burgess) White; and his brothers-in-law, Maurice (Linda) White and Terry B. White. Thank you to the caring staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Colchester East Hants Health Centre for providing first class care when called upon. We could not have asked for more. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A celebration of Royce's life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 1:30pm at the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, Rev. Angus R. MacDonald officiating, with a reception to follow at the Kennetcook Fire Hall. A private family interment will take place in the Noel Road Presbyterian Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations on memory of Royce to the Noel Road Presbyterian Cemetery, c/o Goldie White, RR2 Kennetcook, B0N1P0 would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Highway 354, Kennetcook.
