Smith, Michael Charles - age 61, of Upper Burlington. It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, co-worker and friend, Mike Smith on April 8, 2015. Born on June 24, 1953 in Halifax, he was a son of Dorothy and the late Sidney Smith. Mike will forever be remembered for his storytelling and enthusiasm about his life, especially kayaking on the Kennetcook River. He loved to talk to anyone, anytime, anywhere. Those who love him will appreciate that he died at his gazebo, which he built overlooking the river, with our dog Scout by his side. It was Mike's favorite spot in the world. Most of all, Mike's passion was for his family, and everything he built, everything he planned, was with them in mind. Mike is survived by his wife of nearly 42 years, Donna (Lynch); son, Jacob (Janet Lunn); daughter, Joanna (Danny Martin); adored granddaughter, Jordan; mother, Dorothy Smith; sister, Sharon Goulden (Graham), brothers, Steven (Michelle) and Mark (Karen); and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Sidney Smith. His best little guy, Fergus the cat, already misses him. Goodnight my love; sweet dreams. Cremation has taken place, with no visitation by request. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 2:00pm at the Kempt United Baptist Church, 20 Musgrave Road, Summerville, Pastor Betty Parker officiating, with a private family interment at a later date.
