Obituary of Kathleen "Dean" Hilchie

Hilchie, Kathleen "Dean" Almeda, age 99, Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche, formerly of Sterling Brook, Hants Co., passed away peacefully on April 17, 2015 at Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche. Born on January 25, 1916 in Gormanville, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Minnie (White) Gorman. Dean was a life elder of Selma United Church, a member of the choir for several years, and a member of Selma UCW and WMS. She participated in the Canadian Order of Foresters and WINS. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and traveling with her husband, and was well-known as an excellent cook. Dean is survived by her two children, Roland (Effie) and Sandra Hines; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Hilchie and Hazel Cochrane; son-in-law Leonard Green, and daughter-in-law Patra Foort. Dean was predeceased by her husband, Ernest; son Brian; daughter Sheila Green; brothers Ensley and Murray; sisters Norma McCulloch and Agnes, in infancy; and son-in-law Murray Hines. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 11am in the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, Rev. Natalie Buchanan-Rutherford officiating, with a private family interment at Selma United Church Cemetery. Following the service, a reception will be held in the Noel United Church Basement. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dean may be made to the Selma United Church Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J.
