SMITH - Arthur Glendon, age 92, of Upper Burlington, NS, passed away on May 7, 2015 at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, with his family by his side. Born in Upper Burlington on May 26, 1922, Arthur was the son of the late Claude and Mary (Sanford) Smith. Arthur was a dairy and beef farmer. He spent the winter months in his woodlot cutting firewood, pulpwood and logs. He loved music, and especially enjoyed dancing. While they were still able, he and Margret attended weekly dances all along the Shore and beyond. Arthur is survived by his wife of 72 years, Margret (Macumber); his children, Pat Postma, David (Effie), and Brad (Eunice); 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma (Aubrey) Fielden; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Arthur was predeceased by his brother, Freddie; and his son-in-law, Joost. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 16 from 7-9pm, with a funeral service on Sunday, May 17 at 2pm, both held at the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Summerville, Rev. Garnet Parker officiating, followed by a private family committal service at the Smith Family Cemetery, Upper Burlington, and a reception at the Centre Burlington Hall.
