Obituary of Creighton Sanford

Sanford, Creighton Fredrick Orland - age 71, of Cheverie, passed away on Oct. 11, 2015 at the QEII VG Site, Halifax, with his children by his side. Born in Windsor on April 7, 1944, he was a son of the late Elizabeth "Betty" Maudine (Marsters) Sanford and Orland Carson Sanford. Creighton was a dedicated husband, father, and friend. Known also as Sonny, Fred and Skipper by his many friends, he was called Bumpy by his beloved grandchildren. He was a well-respected and hardworking member of his community. Creighton was the owner and operator of Sanford Roofing Services since 1983, repairing roofs throughout the province. A life-long Ford enthusiast, Creighton enjoyed frequent trips in his company truck to Tim Hortons and KFC. Creighton is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda Ann (Oakley), Cheverie; his daughters, Susan Lynn (Ken) Babcock, Cheverie; Juanita Lynn (Mike) LeBlanc, Upper Dyke; Linna Katherine (Richard) Martin, England; and Rebecca Tracey-Dawn Sanford (Kevin Hyrtle), Mill Cove; grandchildren Dean, Blaine, Felicia, and Brandon; step-granddaughter Crystal; great-grandchildren Brooke, Spencer, and Kaylee; step-grandchildren Wyatt and Ella; sisters Sharon, Hamilton, Ont.; Diane (George) Greeno, Riverside; and Bonnie Caldwell, Newport Station; brother Daniel "Butch", Edmonton; and many nieces and nephews. Creighton was predeceased by his sister, Debbie; and brothers David "Davie", and Jackie in infancy. The family would like to thank Creighton's long-time friend and loyal employee Jamie Smith of Scotch Village for his years of friendship and service. A special mention goes also to the Orthopedic and Nursing Teams at the QEII Halifax Infirmary for their care and kindness. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 7-9pm at the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Summerville. Cremation will take place following the visitation, with no service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Creighton may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J.
