HENDERSON - Eugene Edward "Cliff", age 93, formerly of Walton, NS, passed away at Dykeland Lodge on October 9, 2015 after a battle with cancer. Born in New Ross on August 26, 1922, he was a son of the late Clifford and Elizabeth Jean (Keddy) Henderson. Cliff moved with his family to Wolfville, where he spent his younger years. He served in the Armed Forces until the war ended, then moved to Walton and began sheep farming and working at the barite mine. Cliff loved his farm, his animals (especially his dog Jack), and fishing and hunting. He also loved finding bargains at yard sales with Phyllis when they were able. Cliff is survived by his son, Jerry (Wendy); daughter, Jackie (Lawrence) Parker; four grandchildren, Kenny (Melissa), Patti (Erika), Evan (Kelsey), and Lisa (Ben); one great-grandson, Benjamin; and one brother, Cecil, Ontario. He was predeceased by his partner of 19 years, Phyllis Sanford; four brothers, Kenneth and Lawrence in infancy, and Gerald and Donald; and his sister, Marjorie. The family would like to thank the nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, and CCAs) at Dykeland Lodge for the wonderful care and patience given. He really was happy to be there. Special thanks also to the kitchen staff for their special meals when he wasn't feeling well, and to the friends and family who visited Cliff; he certainly enjoyed your company. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Cliff may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 215, Summerville, ph-1-902-633-2431 or please visit our website at www.allenfh.ca to sign the guest book or send private condolences.
