Obituary of Gerry "Tiger" Harvie

HARVIE, Gerry Leroy "Tiger", age 59, of Kennetcook, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 5, 2015 at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Gormanville on November 11, 1956, he was a son of Estel Harvie and the late Angus White. In his younger days, Gerry was most often found at a ballfield. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan, and his favorite NASCAR driver was Denny Hamlin. Most weekends, he loved to gather with his close friends Buck, Peter, and Bimbo to play cards. He worked all his life in saw mills, the most recent being Heflers Forest Company. Gerry is survived by his daughter, Courtney (Wade); his son, Thomas; his three granddaughters, Savannaha, Madison, and Brooklynn; his only grandson, Jayden; his six sisters, Amelia (Lee), Wanda, Brenda (Donnie), Edna (Mike), Gail, and Wendy; his brothers, Walter and Michael (Dawn); and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Angus; his brother-in-law, Norman Singer; his grandparents, Walter and Maude Harvie and Emerson and Masie White; and several aunts and uncles. Cremation has taken place, with no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 9 at 2pm at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, Rev. Angus R. MacDonald officiating, with a private family interment at North Noel Road Cemetery. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Green Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the I.W.K. Foundation, or a charity of one's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of J.
