Obituary of James "Jim" Russell

James Norman Russell, age 63, passed away at home in Five Mile River on Thursday, December 10, 2015. Born in Halifax on August 3, 1952, he was the son of the late Ernest and Naomi (Corkum) Russell. During his life, Jim had many jobs, with his final and most interesting being a business agent for the Teamsters Union. He would help a neighbour or a stranger with anything and stay to see the task to completion. Jim will remembered and celebrated by his wife, Mary; daughters, Jamie and Mindy (Tommy); granddaughters, Chloe and Naomi; siblings, Gilbert (Joan) Russell, Linda (Greg) Seamone, Danny (Tammy) Russell, and Melanie Russell; many nieces and nephews; his in-laws; aunts, Mona Holmes, Helen Heller, and Ann Ernst; uncles, Raymond Russell and Russell Corkum; and extended family, Judy Lattie, Bonnie Ettinger, Lois (Dale) Ettinger, Beatrice (Donnie) Boutilier, Ricky (Lynn) Lattie, Vicki Smith and Marty Ettinger, who is like a son. Special thanks to the many wonderful caregivers, including Dr. Michelle MacLean and staff at Kennetcook Medical, to VON who made his life easier with laughter, and the palliative care team. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 15 at 2pm at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, Rev. Gary Yetman officiating, with a reception at the Kennetcook Fire Hall. Private family interment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Jim may be made to the Kennetcook Elementary School breakfast program, St. Peter's Anglican Church, the SPCA, or a charity of your choosing.
