Obituary of Anthony Miller

Please share a memory of Anthony to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Miller, Anthony Douglas, age 23, of Kennetcook. It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Anthony Douglas Miller. After a hard fought battle, Anthony passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Halifax on June 25, 1992, Anthony was a son of Angie White and Troy Miller. Anthony's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of life far exceeds the quantity of time in which you live. His amazing smile would melt the hearts of those around him, and although he may have never spoken a word, everyone knew and heard what he thought. With Anthony's never-ending courage through this battle, he led us all to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. Anthony's love for baseball began very young and even at a young age, he always left the field with a smile. He left an impression on all fellow teammates, umpires and opponents. A team player he was. He found his home with the Noel Road Jays and took them on to win the provincial title in 2010 with the midget team and then again in 2014 with the Noel Road Jay Intermediate team. Although he was unable to play in 2015, he was still a part of the team and took pride in the team's second provincial title. After graduating, Anthony dabbled in the carpentry trade and worked for Lindsay's Construction, but soon realized he wasn't meant for that and found his love in the ironworkers trade. He worked for Harris Rebar alongside many of his friends. We're sure the job sites aren't quite the same without his smile and smart-witted remarks. With Anthony's passing, we remind others that his life is to be celebrated. Although he will be greatly missed each and every day, especially that contagious smile, he will always be in our hearts. Anthony leaves behind his loving mother, Angie White (Charlie MacDonald); his loving father, Troy (Florence) Miller; his sister, Jenna MacDonald; brother, Ryan (Kristy) MacDonald; and the love of his life, Caitlin Parks. He is also survived by his grandparents, Floyd (his superhero) and Linda White and Gerald and Gloria Miller. We would like to thank the oncology staff at the VG and IWK, the VON nurses who visited and gave peace of mind, as well as the Palliative Care team, Dawn Ross, and Dr. Henderson. Cremation has taken place; visitation will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 6-9pm, with a memorial service on Saturday, February 13 at 1pm, both at the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, Rev. Angus R. MacDonald officiating. A reception will follow at the Green Hall, North Noel Road. Immediate family flowers only please; donations to the VON or Hants North Baseball Association would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 354, Kennetcook, N.S. Ph-902-362-2440 or please visit our web site at www.allenfh.ca to sign the guest book or send private condolences.
