Obituary of Darrell McCulloch

McCULLOCH - Darrell William Clyde. It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Darrell William Clyde McCulloch, age 57, of Brooklyn, on March 24, 2016 in Newport Corner. Born on December 2, 1958 in Windsor, he was a son of Jean (Brown) Chambers and the late Rufus McCulloch. Darrell enjoyed time with his family and friends, especially his grandsons. He told it like it was and had a big heart, always ready to help anybody. In his younger years, Darrell enjoyed playing sports, especially baseball, broomball, darts, and hunting. He especially looked forward to his annual "fishing" trips with the boys. Darrell is survived by his loving wife, Darlene (Harvie); his daughters, Jennifer (Raymond) Upshaw, Three Mile Plains; and Teresa McCulloch, Kanata, Ontario; his son, Austin O'Donnell, at home; stepsons, Evan Manning and Josh Manning, both of Whitehorse, Yukon; grandsons, Kayden Upshaw, Lynken Upshaw, and step-grandson Drake MacDougall-Manning; stepfather Robert Chambers, McKay Section; sisters, Elaine (Mike) Leighton, Wolfville; and Nancy (Kevin) Smith, Brooklyn; nieces, Lindsay (Andrew) Leighton-Gordon and Kristy Leighton; and nephews, Chad Smith and Blake Smith. Besides his father, Darrell was predeceased by his first wife, Lynn (Kaiser) McCulloch. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 2pm at Kempt United Baptist Church, Summerville, Rev. Garnet Parker officiating, with a reception to follow at Summerville Fire Hall. Private family interment at Card Beach Road Cemetery. Family flowers only; donations in memory of Darrell may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Learn to Fish Program c/o Hants West Wildlife Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 215, Summerville; 1-902-633-2431.
