Obituary of Floyd "Ray" Harvie
Please share a memory of Floyd to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Floyd Rayburne "Ray" Harvie, age 77, of Gormanville. It is with great sadness and broken hearts we announce the passing of Ray at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro on May 1, 2016. His hard-fought battle is over and we hope Ray is now at peace. Ray was born in Noel Road on September 29, 1938 to the late Alfred William and Olla Mae (White) Harvie. In Ray's younger days he worked as a woodsman, and later with Lindsay Construction for many years, retiring in the late 1990s. Ray especially enjoyed his early mornings at the "Liars' Club" with his friends, his bluegrass festivals and camping until his health failed, gardening, and playing cards (but you had to watch him closely). Ray is survived by his wife of 53 years, LaVerne (White); his "Little Boy", Willy; brother, Noyce (Marsha); sister, Iris (Jeff) Fowler; 3 nephews: Tracey (Krista) and their son William, David and friend Charles, and Garett (Angel). Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Shalotte; son, Michael; brother, Roscoe; sister, Paulette; nephew, Bill; and parents-in-law, Leslie and Freda White. We would like to thank the VON nurses, especially Melissa, Linda, and Amanda, and the Palliative Care Team. Cremation has taken place, with no visitation by request. A graveside committal service open to all will be held at the North Noel Road Cemetery on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 4pm, Rev. Angus R. MacDonald officiating, followed by a reception at the Green Hall. No flowers by Ray's request; donations would be greatly appreciated for the North Noel Road Cemetery Fund c/o Wayne Green, RR2 Kennetcook, NS B0N 1P0. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 354, Kennetcook, N.S. Ph-902-362-2440 or please visit our web site at www.allenfh.ca to sign the guest book or send private condolences.
