SMITH - Janet Elizabeth, age 78, of Bramber, passed away on July 5, 2016 at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Windsor Junction on December 31, 1937, she was a daughter of the late James Thomas and Vera Lavinia (Lively) Mitchell. Janet was well-known in the community for her wonderful cooking, especially her mincemeat pies. She also enjoyed knitting, and will be remembered as a kind and loving lady. Janet is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ralph; her children, Donna (Neil) McLellan, Windsor; Michael (Mabel) Smith, Poplar Grove; and Connie (Hector) Boudreau, Halifax; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Florence (Gordon) Burgess and Linda (John) Wilson; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Janet was predeceased by her sisters, Marion Hartling, Grace Pickrem, Isabel Dunn, and Edna Mitchell. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A family committal service will be held at Bramber Cemetery on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 2pm, Pastor Burt Walsh officiating, followed by a reception open to all at the New Horizons Centre, Bramber. Family flowers only; in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bramber Cemetery Fund c/o Mrs. Dawn Barkhouse, RR1 Walton, NS B0N 2R0; or to Parkinson Canada, 150-7071 Bayers Rd., Halifax, NS B3L 2C2.
