BROWN - Katherine Mary, age 78, of Cambridge, Hants Co., passed away suddenly at home on August 1, 2016 with her family by her side. Born in Dartmouth on December 20, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Manley and Hilda (Croft) Walsh. Katherine worked at several care homes during her nursing career, including the Masonic Home, Haliburton Place, and Avon View. She loved to shop and spend time with her family (particularly her grandbabies), and will be missed by her beloved dog, Benji. Katherine is survived by her sons, Blair, Brian "Mickey" (Greta), Kevin (Anna), Kim (Lisa), and Travis (Sheena); daughters, Darlene (Gary) Crossley and Michele (Frank) Hirschfeld; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Irvin (Linda), Manley "Buddy", Henry (Janet), Robert (Shirley), and Eddie (Maureen); sisters, Blanche (Len) Courtney and Junie (Larry) Bowers; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Katherine was predeceased by her husband, Oran; grandson, Brian Brown; and daughters-in-law, Sandra Brown and Donna Brown. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 4 from 7-9pm at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Summerville, with a funeral service on Friday, August 5 at 2pm at Kempt United Baptist Church, Summerville, Rev. Garnet Parker officiating.
