BURNS - Roger Wayne, age 58, of Middle Sackville, formerly of Kennetcook, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2016 at the VG Site, QEII, Halifax, surrounded by his family. Born in Windsor, NS on September 28, 1957, he was a son of Barbara Jean (Singer) Burns and the late Emerson Burns. Roger was the Jack of all trades. He loved hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and hanging out at the hunting camps and the junkyard. He loved his children and grandkids with all his heart, and was lovingly known to them as "Gramps". Roger worked for Chignecto School Board for over 25 years between Hants North and Uniacke District schools as a maintenance worker, retiring from there two years ago. Besides his mother, Roger is survived by his son, Kris (Natalie) Burns; his daughters, Lisa (Jeremy) Clowater and Margie Burns (Andrew Gilby); grandchildren, Aiden, Camden, Kenzie, and Dakota; brother, Wayne (Wanda Lee); sisters, Sandra (Sandy) Wellwood, Becky (David) Neil, Sheila (Ricky) Campbell, and Sherry Lake; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his father, Roger was predeceased by his brother Michael. We would like to express our sincere thanks to Dr. Snow and all the doctors and nurses in the Palliative Care Unit; you truly are special people. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 12 at 2pm in J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, LLWL David Danaher officiating, with a reception to follow at the Kennetcook Fire Hall. Private family interment.
